Tilt 'n' Turn windows feature a sophisticated hinge and locking mechanism which provides security, combined with wide versatility of sash opening. In the locked position the sash is held shut against the frame by up to six espagnolette locks around its perimeter. The evenly distributed closing pressure pulls the weatherseal tight against the frame, efficiently sealing the gap and providing superior weather performance.
Turning the operating handle releases the top of the sash to tilt inwards to a ventilation position, where it is retained by a cantilevered stay. On closing the sash again and rotating the handle, the hinge mechanism is engaged. This allows the sash to swing inwards for full ventilation or glass cleaning. A 'turn before tilt' option is also available.
The robust, highly engineered hinge mechanism fitted to Tilt 'n' Turn sashes enables frames up to 2400mm high to be produced, so that full height Panoramic glass areas can be accommodated with all the same benefits in terms of security, flexible ventilation and ease of cleaning.
In the tilt position, the sash is held secure for ventilation and child safety. The sash can only be opened wider by closing the sash again and turning the handle to the correct orientation.
